About the event
Through the benefits and generosity of AOHCC' s Non-Profit Ahahui Siwila, Lahaina Hawaiian Civic Club will be hosting a series of amazing cultural workshops not easily accessible for us here on Maui and while still in recovery!
Our first workshop will be with Master Lei Maker Maile Keawe-Bryan and Cultural Practitioner Tama Kaleleiki.
Maile, who is also a professional Hula dancer, studied under Aunty Flo Makekau who introduced her to Hulu.
Tama has kuleana & 'ike for Wai'ola Church and is a local historian. As a practitioner, he is versed in many Hawaiian cultural arts. The workshop will focus on making a Kahili Pa'a Lima. A little more advanced for Hulu or feather work, we will have the opportunity to share pilina as we work together and learn important na'auao from our na Kumu. Approximately 20", the Kahili would make a proud statement for our LHCC's traditional heritage …
